This supplementary handout was arranged based on the need to provide students with sufficient exposure on reading materials on English for Specific Purposes (ESP) related to Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) as it has been one of the widely accepted test in workplace and educational institution. In an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, the importance of learning English cannot be overstated. In this highly digital age, English has become a standard in almost every field. As lingua franca, it is becoming increasingly difficult to travel and work without communicating in English.
This handout consists of five units covering some topics and sub topics related to IT issues. The units are arranged in progressive level of competence ranging from higher beginner to advance. Each unit is divided into three parts including theoretical contents, analysis of sample questions and exercises. The entire content was developed to help students understand and analyze different forms of reading text thoroughly by incorporating the integrated reading skills of English. The structure of exercise and material were formed systematically to emphasize those afore-mentioned skills and to shape students’ analytical thinking.
